This is a preliminary study for the 3-meter high sculpture "Meer" with which Jan graduated from the Minerva Art Academy in 2002. In September 2002, Jan transported the sculpture to Amsterdam, drove it through the city on a forklift and "parked" it in front of the Stock Exchange, at the Nieuwe Kerk and in front of the Royal Palace on Dam Square.

The preliminary study was previously cast in bronze, but Jan was not satisfied. In 2025, after an adjustment, it was recast.
